Questions You May Have

You need to have enough remaining balance in your Cropital wallet account to directly invest in farms without waiting for payment confirmation. Otherwise, you can initially pledge an amount on a farmer you want to support. Your pledge will only be converted into an investment once you have deposited your payment and received confirmation. You can add funds and pay via bank transfer or Dragonpay.

To give you a walkthrough on how Cropital works, kindly visit this page.
If all farms are fully-funded, don't worry! New farms for funding will be posted soon as we are adjusting the release of these farms to their ideal cropping season. Once these farms are available, we will send an email to our registered users for notification so make sure to register at our platform cropital.com (if you haven't registered yet) so we can notify you.

The minimum investment is ₱ 5000 (with increments of 5000; i.e. 10000, 15000, etc.) up to ₱ 50,000.
Traditionally, farmers needed to approach informal lenders and loan sharks to get the capital they needed to start a farming cycle. This made them profit less due to the high interest rates (as high as 30% per month) put upon them. With Cropital, farmers get paid for labor and at the same time take majority of the profit - significantly better than other lenders. Hence, their great reception of the services of Cropital.
You can add funds and pay via bank transfer to our BPI account or via Dragonpay (which offers a wide range of payment methods from online banking to over-the-counter payments on banks and non-banks). To learn more about this, please visit our Add Funds to Wallet page. For more information on Dragonpay and it's services, kindly visit this step-by-step guide.
There are 4 identified risks in farming that can affect the return on investment (ROI) of the farm backers: Farmer Risks (i.e. attitude and ability of the farmer), Weather Risks, Pests Risks and Market Risks (i.e. change in supply and demand of the crops in the market). Cropital has mitigated the following risks through the following actions:

Farmer Risks. All farmers have been verified and selected through the assistance of the local government unit. Farmers are required to submit an application form, and barangay clearance and has to undergo an interview with Cropital. Only those who will pass the process will be allowed to join the program.

Weather and Pest Risks. Cropital has applied for insurance for the farmers under PCIC (Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation). This covers all risks under these two categories. Learn more about the crop insurance here.

The remaining risk which is uncontrollable would be the market prices of the crops which can decrease the revenue yield of the harvested crops.

For more information, visit our Risk Assessment and Management page.

A Guide to Cropital

Cropital is the first crowdfunding platform enabling anyone to help finance our farmers. We enable low-cost sustainable agricultural investments to support these farmers thereby promoting inclusive growth, reducing poverty and ensuring food security. More than the funding, Cropital also helps farmers reduce the risks in farming and improve productivity by processing crop insurance, providing a buyer, and giving trainings and access to technology partners.

For our farmers, a small amount of funding in the right form can make all the difference and this is what we provide.
Start by selecting the farms you want to fund and the amount you want to invest. Once this farm has been fully-funded, our farmers will then be provided with the resources they need to improve their productivity. What’s good is that you can gain returns through profit-sharing. Once the harvest is done and produce are sold, you will gain back the amount you invested together with your share on the net profit of the farm.

Visit this page to learn more about how it works.
We require that our users be of Philippine legal age (18 years old).
Yes! In fact, majority of our farm backers are Overseas Filipino Workers who share the vision of Cropital in shaping the Philippine agricultural sector.

Cropital aims to disrupt the oppressive system most smallholder farmers experience (1) living in debt paying interest rates as high as 20% per month (2) taken advantage by traders (3) vulnerability to the changing climate.

Farmers are grouped into clusters and are managed by one local community partner. The local community partner visits the farms regularly and monitors the progress of each farmer in reference with the farm plan they have submitted. The farm plan shows the schedule of activities along with the resources and labor needed. Selling of produce will be coordinated by the local community partner and the farmer. The buyer will be authorised by Cropital and shall pay directly through Cropital.
If all farms are fully-funded, don't worry! New farms for funding will be posted soon as we are adjusting the release of these farms to their ideal cropping season. If investments will not reach the desired amount by the end of the deadline, money will be returned to our farm backers. It is also possible for backers to transfer their money to another investment/farm if their initial investment was not fulfilled. Either way, money will be credited to your Cropital wallet.
Aside from the time duration difference, short-term investments have a single payout and long term investments have multiple payouts. Long term investments do recommend that you finish the whole 10 cycles for your returns to realize the optimum ROI. But do keep in mind that you only need to invest ince.
If you want to support a farm and you don't have enough wallet balance to be able to directly invest, you can pledge for this farm by indicating how much you want to invest in this farm. In simple terms, it's like an unconfirmed investment. Your farm pledge will automatically be converted into an investment once you successfully add funds to your wallet. Farm pledges are on a first-come, first-served basis (based on payment confirmation) and expire if not fulfilled within 2 weeks or once the farm you pledged has been fully-funded.
We give maximum 2 weeks for a pledge to be paid. We would like to let you know thought that most of our farms are funded quickly so we recommend for you to deposit as soon as possible.
All money in excess will go to your Cropital wallet which you can invest in other farms or withdraw anytime.

To view your wallet balance, kindly visit your profile page at cropital.com/user/me.

We will be sending our farm backers regular updates about the status of the farms. This report will include the status, detailed progress and pictures of the farms.

Returns

After the farm cycle, we will send a social impact report to our farm backers. This includes detailed information on our impact to the farmers we've supported made possible by our farm backers. The report may include the increase in income and productivity of the farmer, number of jobs created, number of food produced among others.
Return is a fixed percentage of the net profit of the farm invested. This is dependent on the terms agreed upon by the farm community, considering the level of risks involved. This is explicitly shown at the profiles of the farm. It is important to note that majority of the profit goes to the farmers.
After the harvest is done and the produce are sold, your earnings will be credited to your account for you to either re-invest to new farms or opt to withdraw. More information on how to withdraw funds from your Cropital wallet here.
Return of Investment (ROI) is a function of the crop yield of the farmer. For short term crops, investors would need to wait before crops are harvested ranging from 3 to 6 months. This is explicitly stated in each farmer profile.

With your support to our farmers, they will be provided with the resources to improve their productivity, reduce the risks and thus increase the profit of the farm. All Cropital farmers are provided not just with the capital to continue farming but also support from start to finish of each farm cycle. This includes trainings, crop insurance, assured buyer of crops and latest technologies integrated in their farm plan.
The local community partner disburses resources in the form of inputs and working capital to these farmers. Farmers are provided with the resources only at the time the product is already needed and only when the labor has been finished.

The buyer will be authorized by Cropital and shall pay directly through Cropital. This enables Cropital to track the total revenue of the farmers which is then shared to the investors.
